QNA Concludes Sports Journalism Session

Doha, February 16 (QNA) - Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Thursday concluded a training session on sports news editing aimed at developing the journalists' editorial skills and promote sports journalism. The three-day program has offered a practical training on the basics of sports reporting: match coverage, interviewing, news gathering and feature writing. This session was organized by QNA Media Relations Department on Febraury,15&16 as a part of the agency's various programs to mark the National Sports Day. Ali Hassan al-Mslmani, an Al Jazeera sports producer and soccer commentator on the Al Dawri and Al-Kass sport Channel has conducted lectures for the three-day event. This session is the sixth in a series of a training program launched by QNA last year in order to support the professional development of journalists in Qatar. The program includes so far specialized training courses on writing and editing business news, writing in English as a Foreign Language, photojournalism, and journalistic translation. The programme is pursuant to the Emiri Decree No 51 for the year 2009 which entrusted QNA with the task of providing continuous media training to Qatari media executives to develop their skills and enhance them to the highest professional level.
