QRCS Launch Ramadan Projects
Doha, April 02 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) welcomes the holy month of Ramadan 1443 A.H. with a whole bunch of social, medical, and charitable activities in and out of Qatar, under its Ramadan Campaign titled "Giving Sustains Good", which involves Ramadan-bound and year-round projects worth QR 70 million in total.
Notably, QRCS is carrying out Ramadan Iftar, a project that distributes fresh iftar meals to 70,000 fasting people over 30 days. Another project is Ramadan Provisions, under which vouchers are given to low-income families to purchase diverse food parcels from shopping centers, with a total of 15,620 beneficiaries.
As usual every year, QRCS launches the Cordiality Iftar project, to distribute fresh Iftar meals to patients at hospitals and their families. The overall number of target beneficiaries is 7,200 throughout Ramadan.
Just before Eid-ul-Fitr, the Eid Clothing project will be executed, by distributing vouchers to low-income families to purchase new clothes for their children, thus making 575 children feel happy during this religious feast.
Internationally, QRCSs foreign representation missions will implement the Ramadan Iftar project in 15 countries affected by armed conflict or natural disasters. Diverse food parcels will be distributed to 39,500 families, or around 200,000 refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and poor people in Yemen, Syria, Gaza, Jerusalem, the West Bank, Somalia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, Mali, Albania, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.
Just as in Qatar, a Zakat-ul-Fitr project will be implemented in Yemen, Afghanistan, and Syria. From the funds raised as Zakat-ul-Fitr, food aid will be distributed to 76,700 beneficiaries within the timeframe dictated by Sharia. Also, vouchers will be given to the families of 2,800 children in Yemen and Syria to purchase new clothes for Eid. (QNA)
