Quran Hour Programme Creates Public Awareness To Learn Contents Of Quran
KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) -- The annual 'World Quran Hour' and 'Malaysia Quran Hour' programme will hopefully create an awareness among Muslims, especially those who have yet to understand the Quran, to read, understand and practise its contents for at least an hour a day.
Chairman of the Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUI), Hussamuddin Yaacub said the programme was also an initiative to create a network which would enable Muslims to understand the Quran.
"We want every Muslim to embrace the spirit of the Quran,” he told Bernama here.
He said by understanding the Quran, Muslims will not do anything that would tarnish the image of Islam.
He added that among the factors which caused today’s social problems were because Muslims had distanced themselves from the Quran and did not emulate the characteristics portrayed in the holy book.
Hussamuddin said he was convinced that by understanding the Quran and putting it into practice, Muslims could become as successful as they had in the past.
He added that since the commencement of the programme, some 1,000 Rumah Ngaji (Quran recital homes) had been set up to give free Quran classes to the public.
The third edition of the 'Malaysia Quran Hour' programme themed “Courteous and Caring Race’ would be held for an hour from noon on June 19 at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya.
WUI is a foundation that is one hundred per cent oriented towards preaching the Ummah.
