Radio Bahrain implements first stage of development plan
Manama, Oct. 10 (BNA): The Kingdom’s English Radio Service, Radio Bahrain 96.5 FM, has announced the implementation of the first stage of its development plan. The station, an affiliate of the Ministry of Information Affairs, declared last month that it had set a plan for a revamp of its corporate identity, along with recruiting new talents and introducing new content.
Radio Director at the Ministry, Mr. Younis Salman said that the station has received over 300 applications for the posts of Newsreaders, Field Reporters, and DJs. The station has advertised for the openings through the airwaves and on social media channels. Mr. Salman added that the committees concerned have started the assessment process, and successful candidates were called in for interviews and voice tests. Four DJ candidates, three Bahrainis (DJ Outlaw, Omar Shaheen, and Sara Nabeel) and a Colombian (DJ Camilla), have begun their training and are due to start hosting their shows in October.
Mr. Salman said that the Radio Station is introducing new shows in October as part of a series of new programs in line with its development plan. These include "Bahrain on the Horizon", a show concerned with the Kingdom’s visions, projects, and achievements since the endorsement of the National Action Charter, which will be presented by Amal Sorani. A daily health and medical tips segment, presented by Dr. Mohamed Al-Shaaban, is also due to launch later this month. The station will also be catering to Jazz lovers for an hour every day between midnight and 1 am in a segment dubbed the "Jazz Hour".
Radio Bahrain has launched 40 new radio jingles in collaboration with a leading American sound production company. These come as part of the Radio’s aim of rebranding its corporate identity and reinventing its jingles library.
Coinciding with the launch of the Station’s development plan, H.E. the Minister of Information Affairs, Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, issued his directives for the formation of two committees to oversee the plan’s implementation. The committees, a News and a DJ committee, are comprised of Radio Bahrain management along with leading journalists and professionals within the station.
