Radio Bahrain launches development plan

Manama, Sep. 25 (BNA): The Ministry of Information Affairs has announced the launch of a development plan for the Kingdom’s English Radio Service, Radio Bahrain 96.5 FM. The plan involves revamping the station’s corporate identity, recruiting new talent, developing the broadcast style, and introducing new content. Minister of Information Affairs, Mr. Ali Al Rumaihi, formed two committees to oversee the implementation of the plan. The committees are made up of professional Radio staff members along with ministry officials, with one committee being concerned with the news and programs segments, and the other with the DJ shows and music component. The station has also already launched a recruitment campaign calling on talents for news reading, field reporting, and DJs. The deadline to apply is September 29, 2016, and the team has already started screening and calling in those who have applied. Radio Director, Younis Salman, said the teams are working on new program proposals that aim to highlight the government’s achievements, along with milestones in its action plan. Salman added that the station also plans to launch a series of feature reports on Bahrain, its history and culture. This, in addition to conducting roadshows, in which the station would broadcast from different spots with the aim of bringing the radio station closer to the public. Radio Bahrain first went on air in 1977 and involves a series of musical shows of different genres along with regularly updated news bulletins in the English language.
