Raisa Ryazanova: “Women’s happiness is in them”
Moscow, March 10, 2009 (Khabar) - The famous Russian actress Raisa Ryazanova who played the part of Tosya, the most positive person amongst 3 friends in the “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” film, was born in Kazakhstan and despite living for a very long time in Russia, she still regards Petropavlovsk as her original home and often comes to visit her relatives there.
Tosi’s famous line “A good man should be made such and not obtained ready-made” is constantly quoted but unlike Vera Alentova or Irina Muravyova she wasn’t recognized by people in the streets or piled with offers to star in new films and she was conferred with the title of honoured artist only 12 years after the film’s premier. She was too typical and resembled a great number of women in the country to a large extent. As the actress confessed, she lacked the romantic quality and was rather home-oriented and down-to-earth, the kind of person who feels more comfortable standing on the earth rather than being somewhere up in the clouds.
In the film the heroin was told that she needed to get married and that it would be difficult for her to find her match unless he is a kind of single minister as men don’t like it when women outdo them.
Raisa’s childhood went by in post-war Petropavlovsk. The actress’s mother was a woman from a Russian village who brought up her child alone and gave her the most prestigious profession of an accordion player in the village. However, the young music teacher decided to become an actress after seeing the “Romeo and Juliet” play in the regional theatre and falling in love with the main hero. She entered the Russian Academy of Theatrical Arts on her first attempt to her great surprise and she got married while still in her first year to a sailor, two years after which she gave birth to her son Danil. Two years later, she divorced her husband and has been single ever since. Ryazanova had a very difficult period in her life as she had nothing to eat right after her celebrated role of Tosya and during the Soviet restructuring period she had to grant her only flat on lease and work as a self-employed taxi-driver. However, the actress was always true to herself and continued shooting predominantly in motion pictures. Over a period of 40 years, Raisa Ivanovna has played more than 100 roles. During her later years, she seemed to gain a second wind and played one of the main parts in the “Luck is more important” TV series and in such TV serials as “Babysitter wanted” and “Monte-Cristo”. Apart from that, the “Doll for a bride” play which she features in has been staged for a year so far at the Moscow “Tabakerka” theatre. “The happiness of women lies in themselves and everything depends on them”, says Raisa Ryazanova today.
Raisa Ryazanova, honoured artist of Russia:
- I’d like to send my greetings to all women on the occasion of Women’s Day and wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, you must know that you’re awaited at home and that you’ll be congratulated on the holiday of the 8th of March. Thank you very much and good bye for the moment.
