Rangers guard mudslide-hit village
NAN, July 31 (TNA) – Army rangers have guarded the mudslide-hit village in Nan’s Bo Kluea district to prevent possible looting as the area is declared off-limits due to a potential new round of landslide.
All villagers have been evacuated to stay at temporary shelters after eight people were killed in the mudslide, triggered by heavy downpour on Saturday.
Col Rattana Pattanasophon, commander of the 32nd Ranger Regiment ordered army rangers to be stationed at the entrance of the Huay Khab village to keep an eye on empty homes as evacuated villagers are worried about their belongings.
Huay Khab village head said about the relocation of the village for the safety in the long-term that it will take a long time to do so and villagers are concerned about their everyday life. (TNA)
