Recruitment of Thai police in line with military rules
BANGKOK, September 6 (TNA) - The recruitment of new Royal Thai Police officers, including female officers, complies with military rules set by the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
National Thai Police Chief Police General Chakthip Chaijinda told journalists of the information on September 5, explaining that a new Royal Thai Armed Forces rule and a resolution of the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (AFAPS) Board said police cadets must only be trained at the AFAPS.
The national police chief stated that the Royal Thai Police has, thus, suspended the application of police female cadets as of this academic year although the female police cadets of the previous batches have become good investigators after their graduation, especially in children and women cases.
The national police chief stressed that the Royal Thai Police's end of the recruitment of female police through cadet classes has nothing to do with the gender discrimination against women or the violation of their human rights, as alleged.
According to the national police chief, the Royal Thai Police will, however, continue its recruitment of female police officers, whenever needed, through its direct application system.(TNA)
