Reformation and Rehabilitation: legal steps taken regarding detainee’s death

Manama, Jan. 15 (BNA): The Director-General of Reformation and Rehabilitation said that legal procedures have been taken regarding the death of a Bahraini detainee, 20, on Friday morning at the Detention Centre held over physical assault and damages charges. The centre started procedures to receive the deceased on 14 January 2021 and was isolated per precautionary measures against coronavirus. The detainee had previous criminal records and was kept at the Juvenile Care Centre on 3 April 2016. The Director-General said that the Public Prosecution, the Ombudsman and the National Institute for Human Rights were notified of the required procedures.
