Repatriates’ district to be constructed in Shymkent

Shymkent, April 10, 2009 (Khabar) - The construction of a district for repatriates has started in Shymkent. It is planned that more than 500 families will move in as early as this autumn. Last summer, repatriates who received lots in this area, turned to the president of the country to help receive loans for the construction of housing. The head of state gave a task to the government to solve this problem. Today, funds for the construction of housing have already been transferred to accounts of the contracting organization.

Berdibek Zhanabayev, deputy chairman of board, “Ontustik” Social and Entrepreneurial Corporation:
- There are 2, 5 thousand builders including repatriates. One of the first requirements to the contracting organization was to involve repatriates in this work.

Almat Bulugenov, acting chairman, South Kazakhstan “House Construction Savings Bank” JSC:
- Throughout the course of 5 years, repatriates will be hoarding money and after this period they will receive loans at our bank depending on the program of 10 up to 25 years. The interest rate amounts to 4, 5% per annum.

575 families will move in their new homes and will take up farming this autumn. A fruit and vegetable plant will be constructed here as well.

Abdubakhyt Makulbayev, director, regional migration committee:
- There have always been problems for repatriates including the supply of housing, adaptation and integration into our society. The “Nurly Kosh” program is aimed at solving these issues.

Similar micro-districts will be constructed near Kokshetau and in the Eastern Kazakhstan region as a part of this program.
