Reservoir construction to ease drought in lower North

PHAYAO, May 15 (TNA) - Construction of a reservoir for villagers in Phayao province,a project initiated by His Majesty the King, is to start early 2017. Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya said upon completion, more than 7,000 households in Phayao’s Chiang Muan district, living on the upstream of River Yom will have sufficient drinking water during the dry season. For several decades, villagers faced severe drought during the dry season. The cabinet gave an approval for the project last year while bidding for the construction is to be held soon. Construction of the reservoir is expected to complete within 2021. (TNA)
