Rest areas for motorists to cut road accidents

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, Dec 24 (TNA) - Governor of Prachuab Khiri Khan province has ordered the placement of rest areas for motorists who will be making the exodus back to their hometowns on the Phetkasem Highway- the main artery to the southern provinces. The heavy motor traffic on the nation's highways during the New Year Holidays has prompted Prachuab Khiri Khan Governor Panlop Singhaseni to order the identification of risky, traffic accident prone locations along the Phetkasem Highway. Twenty two locations were identified in Prachuab Khiri Khan province and new clear warning signs telling motorists to slow down have been posted. Special rapid response units have also been ordered to be on standby in the event of accidents. Three rest areas have also been set up at the Wat Huay Mongkol Temple, the Ao Noi Tambom (Sub-District) Administration Organization offices in the provincial seat and at the Khao Pho Department of Highways Service Center located in Bang Saphan Noi district. The abbot of Wat Huay Mongkol Temple allows motorists to rest in 400 rooms in the temple's 4 story multi-purpose building free of charge while free massage service and hot coffee will be provided at the latter two locations.
