RI, AUSTRALIA INCREASE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY COOPERATION Kategori: National News (NAT) 15:13 Selasa, 11 Desember 2012 Jakarta, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Australia have decided to increase transportation safety cooperation to enhance the safety of land, sea and air transport systems. "Indonesia and Australia are keen on enhancing the safety of land, sea and air transport systems," said Australia`s Infrastructure and Transportation Minister, Anthony Albanese, on Tuesday. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Australia and Indonesia to enhance the safety of transport systems, at the Transportation Ministry office on Tuesday. According to Albanese, transport systems should be safe, efficient and comfortable. Well-established transport systems will enhance Asia-Pacific`s economic growth and development. He added that the MoU is a formal mechanism to implement various measures under the Indonesian Safety Transport Assistance Package (ITSAP). "The MoU will strengthen the cooperation between the two countries," he said. Meanwhile, Indonesia`s Transportation Minister, Evert Erenst Mangindaan, said this MoU is an extension of a previous MoU, which was signed on January 31, 2008. The previous MoU will expire on January 31, 2013. "The new MoU will expire after five years," said Mangindaan.
