Riyadh announced as capital of Arab women for 2020

Riyadh, Feb. 18 (BNA): Bahrain has participated in the regional Preparatory meeting for the 64th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), and the 39th session of the Arab Women Committee, which was held under the presidency of Saudi Arabia. The Arab Women Committee has announced Riyadh as the capital of Arab women for 2020 under the slogan “Women are a homeland and an ambition.” The first session, was held under the slogan (Women Empowerment… Community Development), started by holding the regional preparatory meeting, where the results of the Beijing Platform for Action Declaration were reviewed. The Arab Women Committee meeting discussed 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Empowerment of Women in the Arab Region, in addition to following up the recommendations of the Ministerial Conference on (Enhancing the Role of Women in Arab Societies - Lessons Learned from Around the World), and developing mechanisms for cooperation with relevant international organizations.
