Role of the national press hailed

Manama, May 3(BNA): Bahrain has today joined the other nations in the celebrating the World Press Freedom Day, being held under the theme “Journalism with Fear or Favour”. Council of Representatives Secretary-General Rashid Mohammed Bounejma saluted the national press strides in light of the development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. He commended the role of the national press in instilling awareness and and promoting social enlightenment in light of constitutional guarantees and legislative strides, stressing the importance of the fourth estate in building nations. He congratulated the press and media community, hailing their positive role in exposing facts with objectivity, credibility and professionalism and with a democratic atmosphere, support by constitutional provisions and legal guarantees that foster the freedom of expression. He praised the media and press fro highlighting the work and achievements of the Council of Representatives, stressing cooperation to facilitate journalists’ duties.
