Royal event held on Thailand's Coronation Day

BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej presided over a royal ceremony at the Grand Palace here Saturday to mark the 62nd anniversary of his coronation. The royal religious ceremony was organised at the A-ma-rin-dra Vi-ni-chaya Throne Hall inside the Grand Palace, in which Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and other members of the Royal Family, as well as Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Privy Councillors, parliamentarians and senior government and military personnel also participated. Crowds of people chanted "Long Live the King" and waved the national and royal flags along the route, between Siriraj Hospital, where the beloved and revered Thai monarch has stayed, and the Grand Palace. Premier Yingluck is scheduled to preside over a Grand Reception at Bangkok's Government House this evening, as part of nationwide celebrations of the Coronation Day, covering activities organised in provincial areas and joined by locals.
