Royal patronage of BIGS 2019 hailed

Manama, Feb.22 (BNA): A tribute was paid to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for patronising the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS). Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf hailed HM the King’s keenness on developing the agricultural sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He stressed the Government’s drive to promote agriculture, paying tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Consultative Council for her support. He underlined the ministry’s policy of holding agricultural events as part of dedicated efforts to achieve sustainable development and food security and increase the contribution of the agricultural sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He commended the role of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) in enhancing local production through supporting farmers, promoting the sector and incorporating modern technologies towards creating promising professions to citizens. The minister stressed the crucial importance of the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS), which established itself as a key trade exhibition to attracts consumers and promotes Bahraini agricultural products.
