Russia’s Rosoboronexport not to boost arms exports until 2017

MOSCOW, August 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia’s defense industry supplier Rosoboronexport does not plan to raise arms exports within three years, keeping it at U.S. $13 billion per year, as the government’s rearmament program is the top priority for the company, CEO Anatoly Isaikin said in an interview with PRIME released Wednesday. “Exports figures will be kept at the current level of around $13 billion (per year) within three years from 2013 to 2016,” Isaikin said. Arms exports by Rosoboronexport amounted to $5.1 billion in January-June. Its orders portfolio reached $38.9 billion by the end of June. The largest purchasers of Russian arms are India, Iraq, China, Vietnam, and Egypt, among others, Isaikin said. The largest contracts this year were signed with Iraq, Bahrain, and Namibia, he said.
