Russia, China planning to create commission for preventing emergency situations

MOSCOW, August 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Emergencies Ministry is stepping up cooperation with China in preventing and responding to emergency situations, its spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky said on Monday. Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov and Chinese Minister of Civil Affairs Li Liguo signed a protocol to the agreement on cooperation in the field of emergency prevention and response. “Under the document, the parties are planning to create a joint commission for preventing and responding to emergency situations. They will also exchange experience, information and technology for ensuring the safety of the population in natural disasters, train personnel and work out a mechanism for joint response to emergency situations, including in border-lying regions,” Drobyshevsky said.
