Russia, China urge to develop conduct rules in info space for security

SHANGHAI, May 20 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and China are concerned over use of IT technologies in detriment to state sovereignty and inviolability of private life and urge to develop rules of conduct in the information space, Presidents of Russia and China Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping said in a joint statement after their talks in the Chinese city of Shanghai on Tuesday. “The sides are concerned over use of IT technologies running counter to tasks of maintaining international stability and security in detriment to state sovereignty and inviolability of private life,” the document runs. “Russia and China have everything so that the international community...will tackle threats to information security and urge to develop universal rules of conduct in information space, adhere firmly to the principles of multifacetedness, democracy and transparency, internationalisation of the Internet control system and shape a peaceful, safe and open partnership information environment,” the statement reads.
