Russia continues humanitarian assistance to crisis-hit Syria

MOSCOW, April 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry has sent humanitarian aid to Syria, the ministry’s spokesman has said. “In pursuance of the Russian president’s and the government’s instructions, an Il-76 plane has left for Syria to deliver humanitarian aid. On the way back, the plane will take Russians and CIS citizens who wished to leave the country,” spokesman Aleksander Drobyshevsky told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. The plane is carrying over 14 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including foodstuffs, medications and daily necessities, he said. In July, Russia sent two planes carrying 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid for Palestinian refugees living in Syria. The Russian government also sent 30 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to crisis-hit Syria and dispatched 26.7 tonnes of aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon. Learn more on itar-tass.com
