Sa Kaeo Province still faces high inundations

SA KAEO, THAILAND, September 19 (TNA) - The flood water continues to rise in Aranyaprathet district of Thailand’s eastern Sa Kaeo province, while flood level at Rong Kluea market has slightly declined. Flash floods from Wattana Nakorn district of the province have caused an overflow of the river banks, flooding homes around Aranyaprathet market for the past 2 days. This morning, the water level in the district kept on rising and inundated over a kilomotre of the railway tracks and in front of the station. Main roads in the Aranyaprathet district have been under 30 centimetres of flood water, prompting local merchants to temporary move their stalls somewhere else. Officials are hurriedly assisting people affected by the floods, which they say is the worst in 50 years. Over at the Rong Klue market, one of the most important markets for border trade, flood level has started to recede there with only a few areas left facing small inundations. In the meantime, the Cambodian side has also reported continuous heavy rain and some inundations on its side. (TNA)
