Sacred Defense Garden Museum opens in Tehran
TEHRAN,Sept.27(MNA) – Sacred Defense Garden Museum, a museum to promote the culture of resistance, was inaugurated Tuesday in Tehran’s Abbasabad Hills.
Covering an area over 21 hectares, the garden museum is comprised of several sections and was inaugurated in the presence of Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Persian news agencies reported on Wednesday.
The museum’s major building contains seven halls, each one narrating part of the history of the Islamic Revolution and the eight-year Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war).
Visitors can closely watch series of events and experience moments of the real war in different halls, while a selection of weapons have also been put on show across from the halls.
Galleries, martyrs’ tombs, a Library, a water fountain and a seminar hall are the other sections of the museum.
Larijani regarded the museum as a place where the youth can get familiar with different aspects of the war.
“We believe our war was different from other wars in the world. War itself is ugly and is detested in the world, but our war is rooted in the culture of Ashura (the tenth day of Muharram upon which Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his companions were martyred),” Qalibaf said.
He added that the epic of Ashura was huge not for its dimensions but for the values and its deep concepts.
Abbasabad Hills covers an area from northern side of Hemmat Highway to southern side of Haqqani Highway.
