Sanctions are ersatz of policy - Germany's left politician

BERLIN, March 20 (Itar-Tass) - Sanctions against Russia are not a policy but its ersatz, leader of the Left Party’s faction in the German Parliament Gregor Gysi said during the debates about Merkel’s government statement on Thursday. Gysi rebuked the Chancellor she had nothing to oppose the pressures exercised by the U.S., which insisted on sanctions against Russia to Europe’s harm. He also accused the German government of a double-standard approach to the definition of international law violation citing Kosovo’s secession that “was violation of the international law” and described the interim president and the government in Ukraine as illegitimate.
