SCE chief executive opens anti-oil spillage workshop

Manama, Oct. 1 (BNA): Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Dainah, CEO of the Supreme Environment Council (SCE) has opened the National Workshop on Control of Oil Spillages organized in collaboration with OSRL company. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Bin Dainah reaffirmed the importance of coordination among all the ministries and establishments in the Kingdom to boost the cooperation to control incidents of oil spillages, praising the huge efforts exerted by the concerned entities in this respect. He also reaffirmed the SCE’s keenness on boosting the level of readiness and tackling incidents of oil spillages through planning, conducting drills, holding workshops, signing regional and international agreements regarding oil pollution and its control. He said the SCE has formed a team comprising several relevant bodies to revise, update the National Emergency Plan on Control of Oil Spillage and Other Hazardous Substances to ensure its effectiveness and compatibility with the duties and responsibilities assigned to the ministries and relevant institutions for implementation of the plan. Officials from the government ministries and institutions are attending the workshop on October 1-2.
