Manama, Jan. 20 (BNA): Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dainah, participated in the meeting of the municipalities of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Middle East, which was organised remotely by the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center, Tadweer, with the participation of a number of municipal officials from the GCC Countries.
Dr. bin Dainah underlined the efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain to manage hazardous waste for healthcare during the coronavirus pandemic. He also pointed out the kingdom’s initiatives, in cooperation with the private sector, to develop technical capabilities which have all contributed to increasing the number of facilities available to receive waste.
Dr. bin Dainah lauded the idea of holding the meeting to exchange information and expertise between the GCC member states. He called on all participants to further enhance communication and cooperation by holding more meetings to work out solutions for other types of waste, including mainly the municipal one which is considered a major challenge for the GCC countries.
Tadweer Director General, Dr. Salim Al Ka’abi and Facilities Director, Eng. Abdul Mohsin Al-Kethiri, reviewed the UAE’s experience in hazardous waste management for healthcare during the coronavirus pandemic.
The meeting also spotlighted the experiences and initiatives of other GCC countries in this regard.
