SCE chief receives IMO team

Manama, Mar. 13 (BNA): Supreme Council for Environment (SCE)'s CEO Dr. Mohammed Bin Daina received the environmental assessment and verification team of the International Marine Organisation (IMO), at the National Marine Pollution Incident Response Operations Control Centre.
The team assesses and verifies precise compliance with the international standards for marine safety and protection of marine ecology as well as satisfaction of the requirements stipulated in international maritime agreements already joined by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT)'s Ports and Sea Navigation Affairs and Supreme Council for Environment attended the meeting.
The meeting included the presentation of a visual display on national legislations and the procedures enforced by the Supreme Council for Environment that ensure the Kingdom's compliance with the requirements of environmental protection as per the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL 73/78).
The IMO team checked the level of procedures enforced by the Supreme Council for Environment, praising the Kingdom of Bahrain's disposition to privatize the preparations to combat oil spills in its territorial waters.
