SCH Announced as Platinum Sponsor of 6th International Conference on Environmental Mutagens

Doha, February 08 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development has announced the Support of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) as the Platinum Sponsor of the Sixth International Conference on Environmental Mutagens in Human Populations due to be held in Doha March 26th - 29th 2012. The conference aims at developing local, regional and global collaboration in the field of DNA damage by environmental factors as part of a series of highly successful international conferences designed to identify solutions for important human environmental health problems, and to establish collaborative research programs in Qatar, the GCC region and around the world. Speaking on this occasion, HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani, Minister of Public Health of SCH Secretary-General said "We made the decision to provide full support for the Sixth International Conference on Environmental Mutagens in Human Populations 2012 because we believe that this event, hosted for the first time by one of the GCC member States offers the opportunity to be acquinted with the latest knowledge and expertise in this field." He expressed confidence that the conference will provide strong impetus for cooperation and serve as a platform to gain better understanding about the environmental factors, DNA damage and Human Disease. Organized by Qatar Foundation, Environmental Mutagen Society and the International Association of Environmental Mutagen Societies, the Qatar edition will focus on the application locally and regionally - of genetic testing, risk assessment and policy-making to protect both human health and the environment. Students and research trainees have submitted their scientific abstracts until January 22th 2011. The best abstracts will be selected for oral and poster presentations at the conference. Outstanding presentations will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with the presenters receiving recognition, a trophy and a monetary prize. (QNA
