SCH President receives WHO Representative

Manama, Aug. 16 (BNA): President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Head of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (Covid-19), today received the newly-appointed World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative and Head of Office in Bahrain, Dr Tasnim Atatrah, in the presence of a number of officials.
The SCH President congratulated Dr Tasnim Atatrah on her appointment to her post, stressing that Bahrain will provide the necessary support for WHO in all its efforts and services aimed at achieving common goals, wishing her every success.
Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla underlined the importance of enhancing the distinguished relations between Bahrain and WHO, which are growing steadily through the appointment of a special representative to follow up on the implementation of health projects, which will contribute to achieving the forecast goals of the two sides.
The SCH President praised the successful visit of WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, to Bahrain on the occasion of the official inauguration of WHO Office in the kingdom, noting that the visit provided WHO with an opportunity to be informed about Bahrain’s heath achievements, as well as its outstanding experience in combating the pandemic.
Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla and Dr. Atatrah discussed the national health strategy, and the latest projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of health services in the kingdom, commending the dedicated efforts of all the affiliates of the medical sector in Bahrain.
They also discussed the latest developments of the National Health Insurance Scheme (Sehati) aiming to build a distinguished health system, based on quality, choice and sustainability in delivering health services.
Dr. Atatrah expressed WHO’s pride in strengthening its cooperation with Bahrain, through the establishment of its office here, within a long-term strategic partnership aimed at achieving comprehensive health care.
