SCW chief meets Irish minister

New York, Mar.12 (BNA): Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari held talks with Irish Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration David Patrick Stanton.
The meeting was on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), being held in the New York, the United States of America.
The SCW secretary-general discussed with the Irish Minister latest initiatives to set policies and programmes that aim to promote the women’s status and empowerment.
She outlined Bahrain’s strenuous efforts to bridge wage gender gap, integrate women’s needs in the Government Action Plan (GAP) and general state budget, reiterating the Kingdom’s commitment to work with international partners.
She commended the efforts undertaken by Permanent Irish Representative, Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Geraldine Byrne Nason.
Irish Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration David Patrick Stanton commended the Princess Sabeeka Global Award for Women's Empowerment which aims at encouraging and promoting services which are provided for women.
He stressed his country’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain and exchange expertise and best practices regarding women-related issues.
