SCW receives French delegation

Manama, Mar. 23 (BNA): Supreme Council of Women (SCW)'s Secretary-general Hala Al Ansari has received a French delegation of MPs and businesspeople headed by Upper Rhine region's MP Jean-Luc Reitzer. Al Ansari briefed the visiting delegation on the SCW's strategic plans, projects, initiatives led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President of the Supreme Council of Women, as part of its National Strategic Plan for Advancement of Bahraini Women ratified by His Majesty the King, creating the quantum leap in achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs), empowering Bahraini women and bolstering their contribution in all walks of life, including proper representation in the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives at 22.5% and 8% of their total membership respectively. The SCW chief said women now constitute 55% of all registered lawyers in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Women also exceed 33% of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority members. She cited the SCW's successful efforts in attaining the Globally-adopted Bahraini Model for Women Empowerment and the recent launching of the "Princess Sabeeka bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa's Global Award for Women Empowerment" in New York. The French delegation expressed constant readiness to exchange expertise in the field of women-related legislation and activation of cooperation with the Supreme Council of Women at all levels.
