SCW Secretary-General highlights Bahrain's success in advancing women

Manama, June 22 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, has asserted that the kingdom’s policies to upgrade the outputs of national efforts to reach the highest development levels have achieved their goals, particularly with regard to the advancement of women and raising the levels of their national competitiveness. Al-Ansari made the statements following the inclusion of the Kingdom in the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2022 issued by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD)’s World Competitiveness Centre, for the first time, in view of its advanced results mentioned in the report. She indicated that these results are the positive outcome of sound planning, management and effective follow-up of the national plans and programmes implemented by the SCW. She pointed out that the SCW is keen on strengthening its strategic cooperation with the relevant official authorities in the Kingdom to achieve the forecast development goals through integrating women's needs in development and achieving gender balance at the national level. She added that such positive results prove the SCW’s success in becoming a specialised entity in the field of women, making the kingdom an important centre for gender balance and equal opportunities. Al-Ansari lauded the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the SCW and the Government of Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, in following up on the competitiveness indicators of Bahraini women and comparing them with global performance, noting that the kingdom’s outstanding results in this report and others are living proof of the success of such efforts. She affirmed that the SCW will carry on its efforts to encourage and adopt methods that seek to ensure the sustainability of equal partnership between women and men, in a way that would reflect positively on the kingdom’s development plans and enhance Bahrain’s competitiveness.
