SCW secretary-general receives BJA board

Manama, Mar. 2 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, received the Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA)’s Board President and members. Al-Ansari congratulated BJA’s board president and members on winning the confidence of journalist during the recent election, wishing them every success in carrying out their duties of raising awareness, promoting culture and knowledge, enlightening the public and developing the national press. Al-Ansari highlighted the importance of the election of Ahdeya Ahmed as BJA President, being the first woman to reach that position, noting that the exploit adds to Bahraini women’s distinction in various fields. The SCW secretary-general lauded the leading role played by the Bahraini Press in supporting the comprehensive development march, strengthening national unity and raising issues that serve the nation and the citizens. She highlighted the SCW’s keenness to enhance partnership with BJA in various fields, through holding joint events, increasing Bahraini women’s presence in the media and shedding light on their achievements in Bahrain and abroad. BJA president lauded the constant support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and SCW President, to Bahraini women in various fields, including the media, which, she said, has contributed to enhancing their presence in such a vital sector. She expressed BJA’s readiness to constantly cooperate with the SCW in all issues of common interest, in order to highlight the Bahraini women’s achievements through various media outlets, increase women’s presence in media institutions in terms of numbers and positions, as well as informing the public about the SCW’s plans, projects and initiatives.
