SCW Secretary-General receives Woodrow Wilson Centre delegation

Manama, Nov.14 (BNA): Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari received Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars President Ambassador Mark Green and other senior researchers. She welcomed the delegation, commending the centre’s interest in studying Bahrain’s experience. SCW Assistant Secretary-general Shaikha Deena bint Rashid Al Khalifa briefed the delegation about the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women. Bahrain’s initiatives to narrow the gender gap in national development were also highlighted during the meeting. In 2018, the Cabinet approved the National Gender Balance Report to measure the impact of policies aimed to promote gender balance in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Ambassador Green also welcomed cooperation and partnership with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), hailing its role in promoting the advancement of Bahraini women and integrating women’s needs in national development programmes. He underlined the importance of joint cooperation to highlight success stories and shed light on the reality of women in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He commended Bahrain’s model of promoting the status of women, taking into account the Kingdom’s specificity, as well and regional and international strides.
