SCW welcomes Cabinet decision supporting Bahraini women's advancement

Manama, June 24 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Women, chaired by wife of HM the King HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, has welcomed the Cabinet decision to referred to the Executive Committee a draft-law on amending Article (8) of the General State Budget Law to be more responsive to the integration of women's needs in development programmes and in support of justice, equal opportunities and gender equality. The drat-law was referred to the Executive Committee based on the Cabinet consideration of a recommendation submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs, in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Women. The SCW stressed the significance of the Cabinet decision that is in harmony with the development of policies and legislation supportive to the progress of Bahraini women. Which also would promote Bahrain’s international standing in terms of adopting best institutional practices for the integration of women’s needs in budgets, plans and services. SCW’s Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari attached great importance to the Cabinet decision for the implementation of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women 201—2020, as well as in support of Bahraini women in workplaces, which would enhance their participation in boosting the national economy, and in achieving Bahrain Economic Vision based on principles of equality, competitiveness and equal opportunities.
