Sean Ali Stone coming to Iran for Hollywoodism conference

TEHRAN,Jan.15(MNA) -- Sean Ali Stone, the U.S. actor who converted to Islam last year, will be a special guest of the third edition of the International Conference of Hollywoodism, which will be held in Tehran in February. “It’s vitally important that such people attend the conference due to the subjects that will be discussed during the event,” conference secretary Gholamreza Montazami said in a press conference in Tehran on Monday. “Hollywood is a small part of Zionism. However, we are witnessing a new current in the West, which is under the influence of the Islamic Revolution. Today, we should be proud of ourselves over the influence,” he added. The son of U.S. filmmaker Oliver Stone, Sean Stone converted to Islam and chose the name Ali in February 2012, during a trip he made to Iran to attend the Fajr International Film Festival. Montazami said that an Italian member of the European Parliament is scheduled to attend the conference. However, no name was mentioned for the person. “Gilad Atzmon, who is a real anti-Zionist, will attend the conference,” he added. Atzmon is an Israeli-born British jazz saxophonist, novelist, political activist and writer. The International Conference of Hollywoodism will be held in Tehran from February 3 to 6 on the sidelines of the 31st Fajr International Film Festival, which is Iran’s most important event in the film industry. “Some films openly advocating Islamophobia and Iranophobia are scheduled to be screened as part of the programs arranged for the conference,” Montazami said. Among the films are “Unthinkable”, an American suspense thriller film directed by Gregor Jordan in 2010, and “Jerusalem Countdown”, another American thriller film directed by Harold Cronk in 2011. A number of scholars and film critics have also been invited to present papers during the conference.
