Security Measures Beefed Up In Thai Far South For Krue Se Anniversary
YALA, April 25 (TNA) - Security measures have been beefed up in Thailand's far South in the lead-up to the 8th anniversary of a crackdown at the Krue Se Mosque in Pattani province on April 28 against people allegedly involving in violent incidents in the troubled southernmost Thai region.
Yala Governor Dejrat Simsiri told journalists on Wednesday that he has ordered local authorities not to take leave for the time being so that they can enforce the intensified security measures for the sake of public safety.
Dejrat acknowledged that the local authorities have worked out security plans and shared zones to supervise security measures in Yala's both urban and suburban areas, asking local people to help watch out for suspicious objects or incidents, as the local security authorities are also looking for 18 stolen vehicles to prevent car bombing.
Meanwhile, Pakorn Panthu, Director-General of the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security's Department of Social Development and Welfare, and Preecha Sorawisut, an inspector-general of the ministry, visited people injured in vehicle bombings on Jongrak and Ruammit roads in the Nakhon Yala municipality on March 31 at the Yala Hospital on behalf of Minister Santi Prompat and handed floral baskets, as well as 200,000-baht compensation to each of the six injured victims who have now been safe and are undergoing therapy.
