Security measures, facilities now in good place for ASEAN Summit 2019 in Bangkok
BANGKOK, June 14 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Police has been well-prepared for providing security services and traffic facilities to regional leaders and their entourages who are scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit 2019 and related forums, set to be held in Bangkok during June 20-23.
Deputy National Police Chief Police General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul made the announcement in the city on Friday, confirming that all the security measures and facilities have already been in good place.
Police General Srivara told journalists that the regional guests will be fully provided security services at hotels where they will stay and at the venue where the upcoming ASEAN Summit, the 34th of its kind, and related furums will be held.
For facilities, Police General Srivara stated that the Immigration Bureau has been ordered to open its special lanes at Thailand's international airports to quicken its operational processes.
Besides, the Immigration Bureau has been instructed to strictly screen international passengers for both inbound and outbound flights during the period, with suspects of untoward acts to be immediately sent out of the Kingdom.
According to the deputy national police chief, an adhoc operational center for the ASEAN Summit 2019 and related forums will be opened at the Royal Thai Police in Bangkok on June 15 to become the central organ to provide relevant and necessary public information before, during and after the upcoming regional gathering.
"The Royal Thai Police will conduct rehearsals on security services to be provided for the regional leaders and their entourages in all plans and at all targeted places. People are also invited to provide tip-offs on any suspicious or untoward act to the police", the deputy national police chief said.
The deputy national police chief mentioned that people should not be seriously affected by the traffic problem during the regional gathering as most of the upcoming meetings
are held during the weekend, calling, however, for public cooperation against all movements as there will be stern law enforcement during the period.
