Selection of articles from Cahiers du Cinéma appears in Persian
TEHRAN,Dec.29(MNA) -- A Persian translation of a selection of articles published in the influential French film magazine Cahiers du Cinéma during the 1950s and 1960s has recently been printed in a two-volume book.
Entitled “Cahiers du Cinéma”, the book was recently released by the Agah Publications.
Kazem Firuzmand and Mahyar Azar have translated the collection, which was compiled by Jim Hillier.
The first volume of the book is “Cahiers du cinéma: The 1950s: neo-realism, Hollywood, new wave”.
The second volume “Cahiers du Cinéma: 1960-1968: New Wave, New Cinema, Reevaluating Hollywood” discussed the significant role of the magazine during 1960s.
Cahiers du Cinéma was founded in 1951 by André Bazin, Jacques Doniol-Valcroze and Joseph-Marie Lo DucaIt. It developed from an earlier magazine Revue du Cinéma (Review of the Cinema) involving members of two Paris film clubs — Objectif 49 and Ciné-Club du Quartier Latin.
Cahiers du Cinéma has played a major role in establishing film theory and criticism as an essential part of late twentieth century culture. This is the only source where Cahiers is systematically presented in English.
