Selection of Thai NRC members to be completed by Sept 22

BANGKOK, September 8 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand (EC) says that the selection process of all 250 members of the National Reform Council (NRC) is scheduled to be completed by September 22, 2014. EC Secretary-General Puchong Nutrawong told journalists of the schedule on Monday. Puchong insisted that the selection of the overall 250 NRC members nationwide will be prudent, fair, transparent and diversified as guided by Thai Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, who is also Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief. According to the EC secretary-general, all 11 selection committees for the 250 national reform councilors will start their work simultaneously on September 12, one day earlier than their planned. More than 7,300 candidates have applied for the NRC's 250 seats nationwide, far exceeding the election agency's earlier target. (TNA)
