Senate speaker backs Feb 2 general election

BANGKOK, January 29 (TNA) - Senate Speaker Nikhom Wairatpanich says that the caretaker government and the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) have made the right decision to proceed with the February 2 general election. Nikhom told journalists on Wednesday although the upcoming general election will not result in sufficient MPs for the Thai House of Representatives' opening right away, by elections can be organized in problematic areas later. The Senate speaker also asked all parties to exercise patience and not to violate others’ rights.(TNA)
