Senior officials face penalty of being fired in state fund fraud
BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) – The probes on alleged corruption in the welfare fund found senior official are involved in corruption and they could be fired, said Social Development and Human Security Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanjanarat.
Eleven officials, including the ministry’s former permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretary were accused of their involvement in alleged embezzlement of state fund for the destitute.
The chairman of the inquiry committee, Supat Champathong, who is Secretary-General of Office of Higher Education Commission, reported the findings to the minister that evidence is clear that 10 of the accused are implicated in the embezzlement and committed severe disciplinary offences. They face disciplinary action of being fired without receiving pension. All of them denied wrongdoings.
The inquiry is almost done for ten persons. However, the culprits will be named after all processes are completed.
Meanwhile, the result has not yet concluded for the last person and the committee needs to extend the time for more investigation.
The finding is expected to be known next week. (TNA)
