Shaikh Nasser promoted Bahrain sports internationally'

Manama, Dec. 9 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, expressed his joy at participating in the Ironman "Triathlon", held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. The event coincides with the Bahrain National Day celebrations and anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ruler of the country, May God Protect Him, ascension to the throne, which is celebrated annually on December 16-17. His Highness said that establishing this championship reflects the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, in translating the vision of the wise leadership of organizing and hosting events in the Kingdom, which enhances its reputation and positive image on the global sports map. His Highness added that Bahrain is proactive is organizing various international events, and is capable of turning this event with 1200 participant from various countries, into a success. His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa also commented on the children's race, which has the participation of His Highness's children, HH Shaikh Faisal and HH Shaikh Abdullah. The 500m race is held alongside the championship at the Bahrain International Circuit, home of motorsports in the Middle East. His Highness considered the integration of women and children has made the championship more complete, and achieves the goals set by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the most prominent of which is to reinforce the importance of a healthy sports lifestyle for society, giving them a chance to live a healthy disease free life, which in return reflects on them giving their best and contribute to the development of the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Highness concluded by wishing good luck to all the participants in the championship.
