Sharing Best Practices On Children's Rights Will Highlight Malaysia's Name - Minister Rohani

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia should share its best practices on children's rights with Asia-Pacific countries as a measure of smart partnership, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim said. She said the move would not only highlight Malaysia's name in the eyes of the world, but would also enable Malaysia to study and emulate the best practices of other countries. "The situation in other countries may differ from what we have here, but we learn something from them. "If we don't compare what we have with other countries, we will forever be in our comfort zone. To become perfect, we need additional resources and it's good if we can learn from the experiences of others." She said this at a media conference after opening the 3rd High-Level Meeting on South-South Cooperation for Child Rights in Asia and the Pacific here Monday. Rohani said the meeting would also be a platform for Malaysia to look for new ways to address a range of issues concerning children's rights. Nearly 300 participants from 26 countries, including representatives of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), are attending the two-day meeting, themed 'A Billion Brains-Smarter Children, Healthier Economies'. Three papers on children's rights will also be presented in four sessions of the meeting. According to Rohani, presenters from Malaysia will present a working paper titled ' Widespread Health Protection' on the second day of the meeting on Tuesday. --BERNAMA
