Shura Chairman hails launch of “Light-1” satellite

Manama, Dec. 21 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the launch of the first joint Bahraini-Emirati satellite, “Light-1”. He affirmed that the launch is a great achievement resulting from the royal directives to promote investments in the fields of industry, space and future sciences.
The chairman also congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for this achievement, praising the government’s support for programmes and initiatives aimed at strengthening Bahrain’s position regionally and internationally, especially in the field of future sciences.
Al Saleh praised the follow-up of the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his keenness to motivate young people towards innovation in modern sciences. He stressed that Bahrain’s youth possess capabilities that enable them to contribute to more achievements and successes in the march of renaissance and development.
The chairman affirmed that naming the satellite after HM the King’s “First Light” book, reflects the great ambitions of HM the King and reflects the royal vision for a prosperous future for different generations.
He praised the National Space Science Authority (NSSA)’s efforts and the cooperation with the UAE Space Agency, UAE-based Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research and New York University Abu Dhabi, which contributed to the launch of the Bahraini satellite.
Al Saleh stressed that the Shura Council supports national projects and is keen to strengthen the system of legislation and laws to meet the Kingdom’s aspirations to achieve the goals of sustainable development under the leadership of HM the King.
