Shura Chairman praises royal support to Bahrain press

Manama, May 2 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh has commended the unflinching royal support to Bahrain press and responsible freedom of opinion. He underlined the patriotic and responsible role of the Bahraini press in pressing ahead with sustainable growth and highlighting the kingdom’s achievements in all fields. In a statement marking the World Press Freedom Day, which is observed on May 3, the Shura Council Chairman praised the supportive role of the government, led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and its keenness on promoting freedom of expression and opinion and upgrading laws regulating the media sector. The Shura Council Chairman underlined commitment of the national press and the tireless efforts of the journalists and media persons in disclosing accurate information and boosting social awareness regarding local, regional and international issues.
