Shura condemns Houthi terror attacks on Saudi Arabia, region

Manama, Oct. 8 (BNA): The Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee of the Shura Council has condemned the repeated attempts by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias to carry out terrorist attacks aimed at undermining security and stability in Saudi Arabia and the region. The committee said the latest attacks involved launching an explosives-laden drone towards Najran and a booby-trapped boat south of the Red Sea. Such highly condemnable hostilities reflect the determination of terrorist militias to undermine security and stability in the region and endanger the lives of innocent civilians and international shipping lanes, the committee said. The Shura representatives affirmed their support for the stances taken by Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and their full solidarity against anyone who tries to undermine its security and stability. It also stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities to deter terrorist groups, put an end to their continuous violations of international laws and norms, and take firm measures against their supporters and financiers. The committee said that any prejudice to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia is a direct threat to the countries of the region intended to undermine and disrupt the joint efforts aimed at achieving stability and proceeding with development processes. It also targets Saudi Arabia's keenness on the progress and development of states and their societies, it added.
