Shura Council condemns US recognition Israeli sovereignty over Golan Heights

Manama, Mar. 26 (BNA): Shura Council expressed regret over the United States' recognition of the Syrian Golan Heights as an Israeli territory, which is in violation of international resolutions on the legal status of the Golan Heights and it may lead to destabilizing security and stability in the region. The Shura Council expressed strong condemnation of the US announcement that is infringement upon an Arab country's sovereignty and unity of its territories. It called for concerted diplomatic efforts within the framework of the Arab League and various regional and international forums to reject the US announcement and to abide by the Security Council's resolutions and international legitimacy and to end the Israeli occupation of Arab lands occupied in 1967 to accomplish a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
