Shura Council to hold conference on July 3-4

Manama, June 29 (BNA): The Shura Council is organising the “Together to Achieve Legislative Aspirations” conference on July 3-4, under the patronage of Shura Chairman, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh. The event will discuss a host of key social issues pertaining to the financial and economic fields, education, health, public services, labour market and gender equality. The conference aims to consolidate community partnership between Shura members and social segments, as it will be an interaction platform between the Shura Council and the citizens on various issues. The conference, chaired by Dalal Jassim Al-Zayed, the chairperson of the council’s Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, is keen to provide various channels of interaction with the public, including registration and personal attendance of the conference’s workshops, in addition to live broadcasting of the conferenc on the council’s YouTube channel. The first day of the conference will feature four papers to be presented by an elite of speakers from the Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt. They will focus on the future aspirations regarding the general state budget, the role of legislators in achieving gender equality, the role of the legislature in striking a balance between addressing budget deficit and meeting the needs of the citizens and the role of the members of the Legislative Branch in enhancing its suppervisory and legislative role in consolidating human rights. The conference also features seven workshops on the general state budget for the two fiscal years 2019-2020, achieving the strategic goals of the Fiscal Balance Programme, mechanisms to support the labour market and develop small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), education between challenges and aspirations, government services in sectors with top priority to the citizens, health between challenges and aspirations and gender equality. The conference wil make its recommendations based on the participants’ ideas and proposals.
