Shura Council president hails UNESCO milestone

Manama, July 8(BNA): Shura Council President Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh hailed the inclusion of the Dilmun Burial Mounds on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. He lauded the landmark achievement, paying tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, for contributing to enhancing Bahrain’s civilizational and historic standing of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Dilmun Burial Mounds became the third milestone feature on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites after Bahrain Fort (2005) and the Pearl Route in Muharraq (2012). The Shura Council president stressed the importance of revealing the heritage sites, which epitomises Bahrain’s millennia-old civilization, supports the national economy and boosts tourism investment. He commended the Government-led efforts, stressing the importance of supporting research and excavations and promoting the artifacts which were unearthed. He lauded the efforts exerted by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa to promote the cultural sector, hailing her contributions to revealing heritage sites.
